Have had perforated eardrums sice child hood. Attempted to do op on one but changed mind on table as had a reaction to a solution they put in the ear. This was 30 yrs ago. Later told that the hole was too big to graph and risked collapse of total eardrum so was left. However now got minimal hearing in left ear, what now besides a hearing aid, is there an op now avail to help.Last time a doc looked he said hole not too bad but scar tissue present. Sick of apologising for being hearing impaired. Now time to consider an aide or an op if possible but scared due to last failure although I know procedures today are much kinder than yrs ago.

I have recently found out my 5 year old daughter has permanent hearing loss. Could she be fully deaf in future?

I recently found out my 5 year old daughter has moderate hearing loss and will require hearing aids in both ears. She has fairly good speech and is doing well at school. Her teacher was surprised she had hearing loss. I keep worrying about her hearing loss possibly getting wose. How likely would it be for it to get worse to the point where she could become fully deaf? Is this a possibility?

Is this normal or do I really have hearing loss?

Orange Square asked:

My significant other is convinced that I have hearing loss, and I’m starting to see why. I always watch tv with captioning and I’m constantly saying “what?” “what did you say?” and things like this. On the other hand, I’m fine on the phone, I can hear music and tv at a reasonable volume. I usually ask people to look at me when they’re talking to me, otherwise the conversation gets mushed in with background noise. I’m 22. Do you think this is normal or am I really losing my hearing?

Could Exploding head syndrome and hearing loss be connected?

Miss Sunshine asked:

If someone has been hearing impaired since about 5, and has had EHS for as long as they can remember is it possible that hearing can be corrected by correcting the Eustachian tube (if needed) or otherwise? Or if hearing was damaged by EHS? Or any theory regarding hearing loss and EHS? Thanks!

It has been over a month that my 6 month old baby has had an ear infection. The doctor gave her antibotics for 5 days which did not work. She was then given Moxifloxacin and it did not help. My baby picks, and pulls at her ears and does not sleep like she used to before the infection. How long does it take for an ear infection to cause permanent hearing loss? Thank you for anyone that can help. I am worried about her losing her hearing.
