lizzehs_radd_pants asked: I would like to perform a monologue in ASL for my high school’s ASL show, but I’m having a hard time finding one that’s appropriate. I’d like to do one pertaining to being deaf or experiencing hearing loss. Or something along those lines. Do you know of anything that might work? I’m 15 and a girl, but I’m willing to adapt a monologue if need be.
Thanks a bunch(:

The_Reporter asked: I mean, i assume if they here less, they can withstand sounds at higher decibels. is this true?
decibels dictate loudness, and the louder you get the higher the pain is. The threshold of hearing is 70 decibels, meaning over 70 you start damaging your coheclear hairs. but there is also a decibel lever that causes pain. does that increase for people with hearing loss

sylvester asked: I was talking to a co-worker about how much I enjoy lossless files to mp3 because the quality is greater. He said that he has hearing loss so he doesn’t really care. I was then wondering if hearing loss affects (effects or affects I can’t decide) the quality of sound or just the decibel level of sound. I live in NYC, and I’m also curious if city-dwellers (especially here with the loud subways) tend to have greater or younger loss of hearing than rural and/or suburbanites

Trish asked: I want to know what events might lead to hearing loss. I’m not talking about blasting music or anything like that. I mean, like, perforation of the ear drum. What would cause that, short of someone jabbing a pointy object into an ear. Something accidental.
