curious1234 asked: I’m interested in becoming an air traffic controller however I was reading the medical requirements and it said that I would have to have a hearing loss of no greater than 25 dbs in a variety of frequencies. I’m functionally deaf in my left ear but my right ear is fine and no one can tell without me telling them. Not sure if appeals for this kind of hearing loss is considered.

Brett Broski asked: I’ve heard dispute as to whether the bass frequencies are too low to cause hearing loss. Does anyone have any facts to back up whether it is bad for the ears or not?

Anonymous asked: The doctors can’t find any medical cause for it and there is no hearing loss. How common is that? Why did it happen? What can I do to make it go away if anything?

ANTHONY R asked: I woke up this morning with pain on the left side of my face, near the left ear. A few minutes later, I started to experience minor hearing loss and pain inside of my ear. It feels like the kind of pressure sometimes caused when traveling on an elevator. Moving my head around seems to help a little, but the overall problem still persists. Please, help!!!

computerdragon_stl asked: My mother-in-law has a hearing problem, everybody who knows her says so. She says she doesn’t and everybody else is “mumbling”. What is the best way to convince her to go to the ear doctor to get a professional opinion? Again she doesn’t feel the need to go because everybody else mumbles.

Anonymous asked: I am interested in joining the military but have a hearing problem in my right ear. When I take any hearing tests I always fail them. But is it possibly to still be able to join with certain jobs that dont require perfect hearing?

gibs_neil asked: I have had a fairly steady hearing loss that seems to have accelerated in the last year or so. I do not have health insurance at this time, but I need to get this corrected. It is affecting everyday life as well as my classwork. I need to find a cost effective way to correct this any suggestions?
I am 32, have suffered from chronic inner ear infections all of my life (reason for hearing problem). I am a full time student, which is the reason I do not have insurance. Oh, and because of the ear infections I have had both ear drums rupture more than once. It only hurt the first time.

J&K’s mom asked: I know my dog CAN hear, but I wonder if she has a hearing problem. When there are sirens nearby you can hear all the dogs in the neighborhood howling because of it hurting their ears. However, it doesn’t seem to bother my dog. She purposely goes out on the deck to see where the noise is coming from. Just find it odd that she’s not bothered like other dogs.
