I have aspergers and in crowded situation background noise can become overwhelming and drown out what someone is saying to me. I have to sorta lip read. The muffled noise of what I can hear that they are saying plus watching their mouth really helps. I also use subtitles if I’m watching Tv and I love telephones where you can adjust the volume of what the other person is saying.

My hearing is probably only 75% of what it used to be. I’ve worked around loud noises and been to hundreds of rock concerts. I find myself saying “what?” even if I hear what is just said to me, the tinittis( constant ringing in my ears) is the hardest thing to live with. It never stops.
