Can bass from subwoofers cause hearing loss?

hearing loss
Brett Broski asked:

I’ve heard dispute as to whether the bass frequencies are too low to cause hearing loss. Does anyone have any facts to back up whether it is bad for the ears or not?

if you can hear the noise that means your airdrums are being vibrated… the louder you turn it up the harder your airdrums vibrate, if you turn it up loud enough to make your air drums vibrate to hard they will get damaged and you will loos hearing, the only way something can be too low to not damage your ear is if it is on a frequency that doesnt vibrate your ears meaning you couldnt hear it anyway.. makeing a reallly pointless subwoofer bradykin

i have heard midrange is the worst but sound pressure in the bass regions is extreme, you would think that the ears membranes the vibrate could be violently shaken with bass, i mean if we can blow out windows with bass.
experincing huge bass it feels like bass tries to escape any way it can, thru your mouth ears nose, but i have seen car audio mags claim bass does not harm your hearing so who knows. breekatz
