Jeff asked:

I failed the hearing test due to hearing loss in my left ear. My recruiter told me he could get me a waiver for it and now i have to go on monday to see some kind of specialist for further testing or something. Does this mean I can still get in ? If it was too severe would they just have denied the waiver?

IF you Fail to get a hearing loss waiver from the navy, Can you try Marines or Army for waiver?

He works on the cobras and hueys in aviation and his hearing has gotten even worse due to the loud noises. He wears his hearing protection but we tried to find out more online about this subject from the Marine side of things (they are different from the other branches on most subjects). If you were ever in or currently are in the Marine Corps please help me with this. Thanks!

I know that jobs would be limited, but the U.S. Military is something that I’d really like to be a part of. I’m in good shape and everything, and I’m not required to wear glasses. The only thing bringing my down is a 50%+ hearing loss in my left ear.

i have a sloping hearing loss in my left ear only, which means that certain frequencies at certain volumes i can not hear in my left ear. i don’t no the exact details about it but i can hear pretty much everything at a normal volume. My question is what are the guidelines for joining the military, what kind of tests do they do when trying to join?

I saw a doctor about 4 months ago, he gave me a hearing test, and concluded that I do have normal hearing in my right ear. I also found out that I have hearing loss in my left ear. I can hear low and midrange frequencies, but not high frequencies in just that ear. I hope this doesn’t effect me going into the air force. I wanted to get a job in computer programming.
does the air force even test hearing?
