I’m confused, the person my son spoke to made it sound like being “excepted” was like some kind of waiver. Sorry folks this is all new to me.

I want to enlist in the air force, i took an online free hearing test, my left ear is perfect, my right ear, i can hear 500 hz, 1,000 hz, but 2,000 hz and above is almost hard to detect, I think this are the standards that they use at meps, I hope it’s not to bad, maybe I can get a waiver?

Sakura asked:

I am completely deaf in my right ear, (well over 100db hearing loss), but my left ear has no loss and actually hears above average. By no means am I “hard of hearing.” But here is where my questions comes in:

1. Is it possible to join the Air Force? (this doesn’t just include being a pilot, but maybe other areas within, like medical?)

2. Can I be in AFROTC? (again, maybe not just a scholarship to be a pilot but for anything else maybe?)

3. I know the answer to this is probably no, because I have hearing loss, but Is it at all possible for me to be a pilot in the air force?

Thank You
