They can do but must be done by a trained practitioner - otherwisw you risk doing damage to your ears. Polly

Let me be the voice of reason, ear candles do not work PERIOD
they are potentially dangerous and can damage the ear, what you see is wax residue from the candle not the ears.
Some quackery is just daft and pretty harmless (except to gullible peoples wallets) you might as well place an exploding firework in
your ear it would cause about the same amount of damage that ear candles do.
I was joking about the firework but i know what some alt-med acolytes
are like. steve h

Hey am glad I caught you question because I have personally treated a friend with the same problem... here's my home remedy for you it will totally amaze you Hydrogen peroxide works just find and its inexpensive. a few drops of peroxide in each ear will diffuse the wax and brings it to the surface. you just have to constantly clean it out with cotton. its a bit yucki at first but it amazingly works perfect without a doctors visit.
PS Good luck have somone help you with the process.. kry

Wax in your ears is a minor, but annoying problem. The simplest way of dealing with it is to use olive oil in your ears for a week, then have them flushed out. You can also get drops to dissolve it, (Cerumen-X) but it doesn't work as well. Yes it costs at the doctors office....don't you have to pay for ear candles too?

Ear candling is complete nonsense. It doesn't work, and there have been lots of cases of people getting serious burns on their ears, and even perforating their ear drums. Why anyone would think it works is beyond me. There is no way to get a tight enough seal in the ear canal with one of those candles, even if you can get a tight seal, the heat just rises from the candle and does not generate any kind of suction effect...that is physically impossible. SkepDoc 3.0

My brother and I did ear candles.. they cost too, and even tho they work to a degree, it takes time doing this and you need someone to work on your ears for you. I use Debroxy, which is and ear wax removal that you can buy in any drug store. Not costly and works fast. Even the doc couldn't get all the hard wax build up from my right ear. She told me to use this and it works...Try that.. Joanie

Yes. It is amazing at how much wax you will get out of your ears and it will make them feel better. Just don't push them too far in your ears. amigaloca
