Do you have a hearing loss? If so, how are you managing?
Ahmed S asked:
What type of hearing loss? if the problem is solved, How?
I appreciate the information. I need it.

I lost hearing in my left ear when I was 3 due to a bad case of pneumonia. It damaged the nerve. I also lost about 30% of the hearing in my right ear.I’ve learned to look at people when they speak to me and read lips.It was suggested at an early age I learn sign language because they thought I would be completely deaf by the time I was 30.My parents didn’t think that was necessary. My hearing hasn’t changed in the last 30 years at all. It’s just a matter of facing people and asking them to repeat if I don’t catch it all. After all these years it’s now second nature and doesn’t bother most people I know to have me ask them to repeat what they said if I miss something.I will need a hearing aide by the time I reach 60 but that is about normal age for getting one anyway.

I have worked in construction all my life. The high whine of the power saws and tools has diminished the hearing in my left ear by 30% and my right ear by 40%. Most affected are the high range sounds and whisper quiet things. I wear two hearing aids (auditory appliances LOL) with a remote control. I can adjust the type of help they give according to these settings: music, general (ordinary) conversation, background noise. They gave back the every day sounds and quality of life I was missing. They are small enough to completely fit in the ear canal (barely noticeable). They cost $5000 but are worth every cent.
