Of course you can. I am officially deaf (compete loss in left ear and 80% loss in my right ear) I can hear a little and with a hearing aid assisted by lip-reading I can communicate quite well. I've been nursing for many years in fact I'm due to retire in 2010. If you wanna be a nurse Go For It :-)

It shouldn't be a problem at all. As long as it doesn't effect your over all ability to communicate and communication isn't thus compromised, there is no problem. When you apply for Nursing, discuss this with Occupational Health. You will be given a health questionnaire to fill out. Being deaf in one ear, shouldn't be a problem.

You said Nurse Anaesthetist, so I presume you are in the US? Again, the same applies, have a chat with OH.

We don't have Nurse Anaesthetists here in the UK, we have ODP's but they are not Nurse Anaesthetists. Good luck with your chosen career, and excellent choice.
