I have ringing in my ears every now and then. I have worked on B-52's for 8 years now. I take a hearing test every year and some how, every year, my base line is the same as the year before. The hearing protection we have now is pretty good. They're called quattros, quadruple flanged ear plugs. They should issue ear defenders to all flightline personnel, or at least a good pair of David Clarks.

yes it happened to me. i worked the flight line around jet engines and had ringing in my ears. after about ten years or so after discharge i went to a va rep and filed paper work for hearing loss. it was sent to the va and they wrote back and set me up to take a hearing test at one of their clinics. i had hearing loss in both ears, one worse than the other and now i get a check every month from the va, which is tax free, so go and file for hearing loss, you never know

Alot of people suffered hearing loss in some form.

That's why you are given a hearing test in your separation physical.

Without a hearing test done in 1965 to confirm your hearing loss, there is nothing you can do.

Plus being at least 66 years old, probably has more do do with your hearing loss, than service 40 years ago.

but i used rubber earplugs self made and ear muffs made from stereo headphones 1955 1965

later years the Air Force supplied good quality ear protection

I haven't but I didn't rely on the military's useless foam ear plugs, I splurged and got my own hearing protection in the form of noise cancelling headset. I was in and working the flightline for 20 years, so it was a good investment for me. But I've known others that had this problem. If its documented in your miltary medical records, go to a VA agency like VFW or DAV and find an advocate that will file a disability claim for you.
