<description>Dear Blue Moon, you do not say how you have lost hearing. Was this because of exposure to loud noise? Did you have an ear infection? Infections do not always hurt, so you may not have noticed. Have you had this checked out by an audiology expert. Not knowing the background of your loss difficult to be specific about what you can do.
However I would recommend that you check for ear infection, as an inflamed ear drum or fluid behind the ear will cause temporary loss but it is not necessarily permanent if it is treated.
However, it is likely that damage occurs because of exposure to loud noise. As in one of the answers to your question, it is important to only have the sound as loud as you need to hear clearly. Do not bombard your ears with sound from IPods, TV, Disco's or live concerts. Limit your exposure to loud sounds as much as possible.
I really hope this helps.
Best wishes
