Yes - your hearing loss may be increasing and this could be the sign. I have a son with major hearing loss so I understand a bit of the issues of this annoying condition.

Definitely (but of course this is not medical advice). Nature abhors a vacuum, and will frequently create noise when there is none, due to hearing loss
