You must show up for jury duty. You will need to take a statement from your doctor with you. When they call on you they will ask you some questions and at that time you will need to produce your dr statement.
You also can call the phone number on the summons and talk to them for more info.

Probably. Have you doctor write a note regarding your hearing loss, and get your boss to write a note saying that you have to work, just in case the hearing issues aren't enough. It's really not that hard to get out of jury duty, at least here in Canada. I'd imagine that it would be similar in the states.

can you read sign ? most courtrooms now have a person who signs for people who can not hear...otherwise, you will need to go to the session and see if they dismiss you, I dont think a doctors note will be enough

It can be a reason to not get chosen to sit on a jury, but you should answer the summons. As a citizen it is your duty to do so! Remember, there are thousands of people all over the world sitting in prisons; being tortured and even killed because they want the same rights and privileges as you have. So at least show up and explain your disability to the court.

That may require a report from your audiologist showing when you last had a hearing test and the degree of deafness in both ears that you have. Probably best to discuss this with your hearing doctor or call up the court facility listed on your report form. You don't want to get yourself in trouble by assuming anything.

I expect that you still have to show up for jury duty, you will just not be placed on any juries. You're summons usually says what will actually excuse you from coming, and its usually pretty narrow.

Yes, it can be used as an excuse. My mother is deaf and she used that excuse. You must get a written notice from a doctor stating you have hearing loss though. They're not going to take your word for it.

I know if I was a plaintiff or defendant I sure wouldn't want you on a jury.

Neither will their attorneys.

Yes, it most definitely is grounds to be excused. Take your doc's note and expect to be out of there before lunch. In fact, if you just say "What?" a lot and "I'm sorry, I can't hear you. What did you say?" you'll probably get out of it without a doc's note.
