Mild hearing loss in 2 year old son?

hearing loss
The Little Mermaid asked:

I have a son whose was diagnosed with mild hearing loss in both ears. And while I’m grateful that it was only MILD hearing loss, I can’t help worrying about him still.

I have heard people with hearing loss and they tend to speak… a little unusual. I want to know if that is the way he will speak once he gets hearing aids and speech therapy.

Thanks.

    Hello,
I lost my hearing when I was two due to meningitis. I have a Severe Hearing Loss. I wear the “over the ear” hearing aids in both ears, since I was five years old. My mother and father were not aware of my hearing lost until I was in school. When your son receives his hearing aids, he will realize what the actual sounds sound like. The way he is talking now is what he hears and it is called Vibration Talking. Since sounds are vibrations, this is the way he hears the sounds now. I would highly recommend speech therapy. I had speech therapy in grade school, now I am in my final year of college working towards a Chemistry Degree. I wish you well. Emilee M
