My uncle has just lost his hearing in one ear. I am looking for a good specialist and also a hospital?

He is 58 years old. Lost his hearing two days ago. Nobody knows the reason. It might have been a stress. Please, if you know sth about the similiar case let me know. It is an emergency. I am despereate and looking for the specialist all over Europe.

    Talk to your Uncles doctor they are a good place to start with finding specialists. If he has insurance contact his provider they will also give some good recommendations. davidb196

    It could just be clogged with deep builtup wax. I have had it happen twice. A regular Dr. can easily flush it out and regain hearing right away. Does his sound kind of stopped up to him or completely gone, one ear or both?

    Any ENT specialist will be able to advise your Uncle. There are hundreds of reason for deafness. There are over 9 Million deaf people in the uk and 6.5 Million of them are over 60yrs and this is because deafness is common in the older person. Your body as it gets older wears out and often hearing is one of the things to go first.

    Being Deaf in one ear is not all that bad. A hearing aid might give your uncle some of his hearing back. It could be a blocked ear and simple suction sorts that. It could be an infection and the hearing may return but it may not. Sometimes hearing loss is psychological but very rare.

    I appreciate your concerned but this is not an emergency and is not something that is likely to be solved any time soon!

    As for a hospital your uncles GP will refer him to a local hospital. 2995
