If these are digital hearing aids, they're mighty expensive. And if you need a pair, then it's twice the price. Digital anything will be more expensive than analogs, that's for sure. Just from looking at the website, these hearing aids are digital.

I've been wearing hearing aids since I was nearly 3, and I'm 22 now. I'm onto my 2nd digital hearing aid at this time, the Supero from Phonak, which I'm happy with. But it was pretty pricy (the local Vocational Rehab. paid for my current hearing aid, as it was helping me to hear a bit better at work than my previous hearing aid did).

Rarely insurance will cover hearing aids. I don't k. now if the Lion's Club could help with the purchase, or Seratoma. They both are big on helping those with hearing problems, so it couldn't hurt to check with them.

$6,500 is way too much. Shop around. There are a lot of really good ones today for a lot less than that. Good luck! :)

The cost of hearing aids varies widely. A quality analog model can cost from $900 to $1,200, while a digital aid can range from $1,300 to $3,000. Talk to your audiologist about what your needs and expectations are. If cost is an issue, there are still good instruments available at reasonable prices. Medicare and most private insurance policies usually don't cover the cost of hearing aids, though some Medicare plans known as Medicare Advantage plans might. Qualified veterans may be eligible for free hearing aids through the Veterans Affairs. Do not buy anything from Miracle Ear. While they do have a good product, the miracle is that they actually talk people into paying that for it.
