I’m Profoundly Deaf and also suffer from Ménière’s disease and Tinnitus,
I’m very worried as my Audiologist recently told me my hearing loss is progressive.

Do I have a right to ask him for more information on this?
Thank you for your help :)

Hi does anyone know if there are requirements for getting a hearing aid? like how much loss, what if its just one ear, are there other things they can do besides a hearing aid? I have significant hearing loss in my left ear from childhood ear infections and it seems to be getting worse lately. A friend really thinks i should see an audiologist and think about a hearing aid….

How does one comparison shop for a hearing aid?

My audiologist quoted a price for the ‘best aid’ for me.Might there not be others equally appropriate and cheaper? How do I know I’m getting the best deal?

I lost some hearing in my right ear, and also seem to have an overly sensitive (painful) response to certain pitches. My audiologist suggested I get a hearing aid that will a) help with the loss and b) block certain pitches. (I used to keep a balled up reciept in there to block them. :-/) How much is a basic hearing aid for a small amount of hearing loss? Thanks!

I have a profound hearing loss caused by the hardening of the inner ear and it is supposed to be permanent but

I have noticed that I am starting to hear pretty good without my hearing aids and the only change I have made is that I started a hardcore exercise program about three weeks ago. My ear doctor says that there is no way that it can cause my hearing to get better but you can’t argue with physical evidence. Am I crazy or has anyone else heard of this happening? I made an appt. with my audiologist for next month.

If you have inner ear damage do you have hearing loss?

I’m hella paranoid about my hearing. My audiologist says it’s fine, but I want to join the Marines and yeah. I looked at the requirements and all, and my test says I’m in the normal range, but can you still have inner ear damage if you don’t have hearing loss? I heard that military tests your hearing to make sure you can hear and to see if you have inner ear damage because it will mess up your balance.
