curious1234 asked: I’m interested in becoming an air traffic controller however I was reading the medical requirements and it said that I would have to have a hearing loss of no greater than 25 dbs in a variety of frequencies. I’m functionally deaf in my left ear but my right ear is fine and no one can tell without me telling them. Not sure if appeals for this kind of hearing loss is considered.

lizzehs_radd_pants asked: I would like to perform a monologue in ASL for my high school’s ASL show, but I’m having a hard time finding one that’s appropriate. I’d like to do one pertaining to being deaf or experiencing hearing loss. Or something along those lines. Do you know of anything that might work? I’m 15 and a girl, but I’m willing to adapt a monologue if need be.
Thanks a bunch(:

snootybutsweet asked: Did you take your hearing for granted once? How has deafness impacted your life? What can’t you do now that you could do before? If you had perfect hearing back for 1 day, what would you do?

awesome man asked: When I was born, I was almost deaf, but they put tubes in and - although I have no honest idea how they work - it was much better. But does that, in effect, make me more likely to have hearing loss?

Jason asked: My left ear is near 100% deaf across the board. My right ear has around 70-80% loss, mixed.
I think the audiologist told me wrong when she suggested I use the digital hearing aid on the better ear.
I have one digital and one analog. Can’t hear much without either of them.

Zak asked:
like the hearing loss is magnified. By using the hearing aid, can it make me totally deaf? Why is it that when i use it for 15min, after i pull it out i am more hard of hearing than in the first place? But after some min i hear normally [tho still hard]. Is it ok to use the in-the-ear hearing aid full time? likei use my spectacles?

Can it just be in one ear or does it need to be both ears?

caretoshare2000 asked:
As the audiologist said hearing will only deteriorate as I get older. I’m scared.
I’m glad other people find this really funny. The prospect of declining hearing isn’t something I’m finding amusing at the moment.

James H asked:
for over a year now. No one seems interested in hiring me. They know there is something wrong with me because I sound deaf. However, I can speak very clearly and I am understandable. I am giving up trying to find a job especially since so many are out of work now. Employers have more choices about who they hire so I know they aren’t going to hire me.
