Chelsums asked:

Once when I was a freshman in high school I went to my ear doctor and had a hearing test because I was having trouble hearing in class.
I also explained that at times it felt as if I couldn’t remember English and people were just garbling. He said my hearing was perfect but that I might have “____ hearing” where I have trouble understanding the first few times.

What is this called??

i have pretty bad hearing. to the point where i can’t have a convo on the phone w/o saying “what? can you talk a lil louder? or i can barely hear you sry” people must hate talking to me on the phone. but it’s not just the phone either. the last time i took a hearing test it was just one of those things where you raise your hand if you hear the ringing sound with the headphones you know? but i passed it. but i do think i have a hearing problem. if i go get a hearing test will it just be like the one i explained? this sucks im just 17.

I failed the hearing test due to hearing loss in my left ear. My recruiter told me he could get me a waiver for it and now i have to go on monday to see some kind of specialist for further testing or something. Does this mean I can still get in ? If it was too severe would they just have denied the waiver?

I went to MEPS today and when I got my full physical I passed everything except for my hearing test in my left ear, my right ear was perfect. Right now my recruiter is trying to get me a waiver, but I’m worried about whether or not I am going to get it. The doctor that signed off my papers recommended me for getting the waiver. So what are my chances of getting the waiver? Thanks for any help I can get.
