I have been diagnosed with Sudden Sensorineural hearing loss. On Prednisone now. Scared to death! Heard of it?

I am scared to death that my hearing won’t return, and I will be stuck with the sound of a jet engine in my head! Dr. thinks it’s viral, but schedule an MRI to rule out a tumor. I would appreciate ANY information regarding this.

40 yr old healthy male, no history of hearing loss himself or in his family, suddenly began to lose hearing in one ear. Hearing in that ear sounds like everything is under water. Doctor is testing to see if it’s a tumor. What type of tumor would he be looking for - in the brain, in the ear? Is this common?
