When should we start to be concerned about hearing loss?

Leah asked:

I mean is there an age where we should start to get regular hearing checks?

considering the noise that teens are exposed to at rock concerts, I think regular hearing testing should start in the early teens and be done at least every four years, more if they go to concerts regularly. essentiallysolo

I’ve been getting hearing checks since I was little, part of a full checkup at the doctor’s. I am 14 now.

It’s probably especially important in your teen years to get yearly hearing checks, since we have headphones, earbuds, long lines of concerts, even the subway! Every time you listen to music past the meter, you ruin the little hairs in your ear that allow you to hear. oh.em.gee<3

I agree, regular hearing check-ups can never start too soon. Especially if you have reason for concern. Just like with eye-sight, if left unchecked it can most definitely get worse. So I would get that checked on for sure. Olivia
