hearing loss

I figured if it affects only ONE middle ear it would cause UNILATERAL hearing loss.

Unfortunately not, this can effect both ears hearing depending the situation. The good news however is that it can be medically fixed through surgery on the ear and the hearing loss can be recovered. If it were sensorineural then this wouldn’t be an option. It may be that the other ear may of had a problem but it was not easily noticable until now. See an ENT and audiologist sooner than later to get the problem fixed. Dunshaw
