Would wearing your hearing aids make your hearing loss get worse?
angelicsinger49 asked:
i hate wearing my hearing aids. i think in 1st grade i only lost hearing in my left ear but after i tested again this year i lost 50% in both ear! i havent wore my hearing aids in years. is that probaly the reason why my hearing loss got worse? when i wore them once in school this year everything was so LOUD! i couldnt stand it. i couldnt even hear my friend talk to me because of everything else around me.
also is there any way i could get back some of my hearing loss?

Your doctor should be able to tell you why you are losing your hearing.
Not wearing the hearing aids would not make your hearing any worse.

From what you describe it sounds as though your Audiologist or hearing-aid dispenser is greatly at fault, and you have not been given the correct familiarization procedure to adjust the volume of your aid, - or possibly even the correct mode of operation, if it’s a digital, ’selective’ mode device.
Your doctor should have checked this.
The other way of handling your hearing-loss is to get glasses (spectacles) with the hearing-aid device embedded in the legs, and which go behind your ears, transmitting sound of a much purer quality, through the bones. I have these, and they’re a blessing, compared with the old ‘in-the-ear’ ones. I can thoroughly recommend them from personal use
